Principal and co-founder

WILLIAM NEWMAN, CFP® is a principal and co-founder of NDS Wealth Advisors (NDS) and has over 35 years of investment and trust management experience.  Prior to joining ND&S, Bill served as an investment counselor/portfolio manager with the Private Bank of BankBoston (formerly Rhode Island Hospital Trust) in Providence.  At the Private Bank, Bill was also the Bank’s investment analyst for the transportation and media/publishing industries and published numerous research articles.  Bill is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.  He served as a commissioned officer in the United States Army and as a Major in the Army Reserves.  Bill is a Certified Financial Planner, a graduate of the Canon Financial Institute, Charlotte N.C., and the United States Army Command & General Staff College.  He is a member and former treasurer for the Financial Planning Association of Rhode Island.  He is also a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Providence, and is a published contributor to “The Wall Street Transcript.” Bill is an avid golfer and is a member of Wannamoisett Country Club.  He serves as the chairman of the Endowment Committee for St. Andrew’s School in Barrington, RI.  

Bill and his wife, Kathy, have seven children and live in Touisset, RI. When not at their home in Touisset, Bill and his wife enjoy spending time at their log home in the Adirondacks.

John P. Sheerar

Principal

JOHN P. SHEERAR is a principal of NDS Wealth Advisors and has over 40 years of experience as an investment account manager and an estate and trust planner.  Prior to joining ND&S, John was a First Vice President and Executive Account Manager at the Private Bank of BankBoston (formerly Rhode Island Hospital Trust).  At the Private Bank, John managed trusts and investment accounts with a market value of over $400 million.  He served on the bank’s account administration committee, the real estate committee, and was chairman of the charitable trust committee.  John began his trust and investment career with the Washington Trust Company as a private banker and tax specialist. John attended Syracuse University and received an MBA in finance from the University of Rhode Island in 1982.  He is also a graduate of the ABA National Trust School at Northwestern University.  John continues to be active on non-profit boards and committees.  He has served on development committees at Moses Brown School, Rocky Hill School, and South County Hospital.   John was on the board of the Rocky Hill School for nine years, was chair of the finance committee, and served on the nominating committee of The South County Hospital.  John resides with his wife, Helen, in Charlestown. 

Edward D. Buxton

Principal

EDWARD D. BUXTON is a principal of NDS Wealth Advisors and has over 50 years of investment management experience.  Prior to joining ND&S, Ed was a senior vice president and investment counselor with Fleet Investment Advisors in Providence.  At Fleet, Ed managed trusts and investment accounts with a market value of over $1 billion.  Ed began his career in 1969, working as a portfolio manager for Rhode Island Hospital Trust.  He was manager of the investment group at Hospital Trust and became RI Regional Director of Investments for Bank Boston, overseeing the management of $5.6 billion in assets.  Ed served as a lieutenant in the U. S. Navy from 1962-1966.  Ed was a former member of the investment committees of Butler 

Hospital and Care New England.  He resides with his wife, Joyce, in Touisset, MA. 

Richard Cavanagh CFP®, CFA

Senior Investment Advisor

Richard Cavanagh, CFP®, CFA, is a Senior Investment Advisor with NDS Wealth Advisors. Over the course of his career, Rich has remained dedicated to delivering exceptional financial analysis and advice. Starting as an insurance advisor, he earned the CLU and ChFC designations, building a strong foundation in comprehensive financial planning. As Rich transitioned into investment and wealth management, he achieved the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation and later the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) charter, further solidifying his expertise in providing strategic investment guidance and wealth management solutions.

A graduate of Harvard University, Rich has extensive experience managing clients’ wealth in diverse settings, including solo practice, institutional roles, and independent Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) platforms. His wide-ranging expertise spans managing institutional and private accounts, consulting for institutional insurance and 529 college savings plans, and overseeing firm compliance with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations. Just before joining NDS Wealth Advisors, he expanded his professional scope as a Senior Business Consultant, leading over 30 small business consulting projects across the U.S. He also brings over a decade of experience as a Chief Compliance Officer for RIA firms.

Richard and his wife, Melinda, reside in Warwick, RI.

Parker Moffett

Senior Investment Advisor

Parker Moffett is a Senior Investment Advisor at NDS Wealth Advisors. With an extensive background in the investment management industry, Parker brings a richly diverse perspective to his role. Before his tenure at NDS, he successfully founded and led an independent Registered Investment Advisory practice. This followed a distinguished 15-year career at Capital Group, home of American Funds.
Parker earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of California, San Diego, and his MBA from the Peter F. Drucker School of Management in Claremont, California. His commitment to continuous professional development is underscored by additional studies at Cambridge University and Carnegie Mellon. Parker holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst, CIMA®, designation.
Parker resides in Providence, Rhode Island with his wife, Erin, and their five children.

Erik S. Manchester

Investment Counselor

ERIK S. MANCHESTER, CFP®  is an Investment Counselor with NDS Wealth Advisors. Prior to joining ND&S in May 2014, he was a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management in Providence, RI since January 2011.  At Morgan Stanley, he managed investment portfolios for high net-worth individuals, family trusts, endowments, and retirement plans.  Erik is a Certified Financial Planner, and completed his education requirement through  Bryant University’s Executive Program.  Prior to entering the financial services industry, Erik worked as an account manager overseeing worldwide accounts for a specialized manufacturing company in North Kingstown, RI serving the offshore and military industries.  

Erik is a graduate of the College of Business at Florida State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.  He achieved his Eagle Scout in 2003 and is a past president of Ocean State Toastmasters in Warwick, RI.  Erik is a member of Potowomut Golf Club and served three years on the board of governors.

Erik and his wife Kerri have three children and live in North Attleboro, MA.

Dawn M. Carlson

Office Manager

DAWN M. CARLSON is an Office Manager at NDS Wealth Advisors.  She has over 40 years of experience in the investment industry.  She attended Colby College and Rhode Island College.  Prior to joining Newman Dignan & Sheerar, Inc., Dawn was a Senior Registered Sales Assistant with Paine Webber in Providence, Rhode Island.  While at Paine Webber, Dawn acquired the Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses along with her life/health and accident insurance license.  Dawn and her husband, Doug, have two children and live in Barrington, RI. 

Ann C. Keating

Account Administrator

ANN C. KEATING is an Account Administrator at NDS Wealth Advisors, Inc and has over 41 years of trust management and investment experience.  Prior to joining Newman Dignan & Sheerar, Inc, Ann was a Vice President for the Lee Krasner Group (formerly Kirkpatrick & Krasner) in Providence, Rhode Island.  She also was a Vice President at BankBoston (formerly Rhode Island Hospital Trust) from 1980-1990.  Ann was responsible for the administration of trust and investment accounts while at the bank.  Ann received her bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island College in 1979 and graduated from Williams College School of Banking in 1985.  Ann has her Series 65 license. Ann and her husband, Kevin, have three children and live in North Kingstown. 

Isabel M. Blakely

Investment Administrator

ISABEL M. BLAKELY is an Investment Administrator at NDS Wealth Advisors.  Prior to joining our firm, Isabel was with Columbia Management Advisors (formerly Fleet Investment Advisors) where she worked as an investment associate for senior institutional and personal investment managers.  Her career spans over 40 years starting with Hospital Trust in 1979 and includes positions as an administrative assistant in trust administration and portfolio management.  Isabel brings an affinity for customer care and responsiveness, all of which significantly contributes to NDS’ growing customer service capabilities.  Isabel and her husband, Guy, have two sons and live in Riverside.
